Acne : Preventive and curative measures

It is the most common form of Acne. Usually affects people from puberty to young adulthood. Around 80% of entire American population experiences this skin condition during their lifetime and out of this percentage 20% have severe acne.

Acne vulgaris is a skin problem that starts when oil and dead skin cells clog up the pores.

Symptoms:
  • Appearance of pimples
  • Skin may turn red and scaly
  • White and Blackheads
  • Excessive oil accumulation
  • Blemishes left by scratches
 Causes:
  •  Adolescence
  • Use of oil based cosmetics
  • Excessive milk intake especially skim milk by teenagers
  • Medications with iodine (found in some cough medicines)
  • Excessive Oily and fatty food stuff.
Preventive Measures:
  1. Wash face twice daily with lukewarm salty water
  2. Take fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
  3. Drink lots of water to prevent most skin problems. (To find out how many you should drink, divide your body weight in half and drink at least that many ounces of water a day)
  4. Do exercise daily. It helps bring oxygen to the cells and gives a healthy skin
  5. Many married woman face acne issues because they take birth control pills which can aggravate acne. So, consult your physician or use another birth control method.
 Curative Measure:
  1. Take few grapes. cut in half and rub it over the face and neck. Rinse with cold water.
  2. Apply Honey and leave it on the skin for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then rinse again with cold water to close the pores. Before applying this mask, rinse your face with warm water to open up the pores.
  3. Rub slice of potato on them. Leave it on for at least 20 minutes. After that rinse with cold water.
  4. Take 1 tsp rosewater and add 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Apply on the affected area. It not only cures acne and pimples but also reduces blemishes and scars.
  5. Apply aloe vera gel on the affected aeas.
